A song can stay the same and still not arrive the same way.
The melody does not change. The words remain where they always were. The rhythm moves as expected.
Yet at one time, it passes by almost unnoticed.
At another time, one small part becomes unusually clear.
A line seems to stand still for a moment. A sound in the background feels more present than before. Even a pause between notes can seem more noticeable than the song itself.
This can happen in ordinary places.
Through headphones while walking. In a car. In a room where the song has been played many times already.
There is no need to search for anything in it.
Still, something shifts in how it is heard.
Later, the same song may return to its usual shape, familiar and unchanged, as if that brief difference had not been there at all.
